Christmas Day

Annual Christmas sisters-mom pajama pic

We had a great Christmas this year. By the time Christmas day arrived, Naomi was a pro at opening gifts. And not only her gifts but everyone's gifts. Chris and I decided that this year we would only get Naomi a couple things. With all the toys we've purchased throughout the year and the gifts she'll get from Grandparents and such, Naomi will have plenty this Christmas. So, we bought her a little people's farm. Right now she's obsessed with animals. She loves it! And, she also received a little broom. She's always getting mine out and sweeping. So far she's swept the kitchen a few times. Another great thing Naomi loves is the kitchen Grandma and Grandpa Neeley gave her. We put it in her room since her should be playroom is two floors down and full of Christmas stuff. I bought some play food so she keeps herself busy playing in her kitchen. We hope everyone had a great Holiday and has a great New Years!

This past weekend we celebrated Christmas with Chris's family. My in laws came up from St. George for a couple of days and stayed with us. It was so nice having them around. Since they moved, we don't see them very much. Friday night we went over to my brother in laws and had a traditional Christmas dinner and then opened gifts. For the family gift my in laws gave everyone, including the little kids, Balboa Island sweatshirts. They looked so cute on the little ones. When I opened up Naomi's I said I wanted one in my size and I did! Of course we all put them on a took a family picture. We are going to Balboa in June and I'm sure those sweatshirts will come in handy for the evenings.

The Jacobsen's always go skiing around Christmas so the next day everyone went up to Solitude. I actually don't ski, but I went up for a few hours and hung out at the lodge with whoever was taking a break at the time. Of course, Chris wanted to take Naomi down a few hills so we bundled her in her cousins stuff and down they went. She was laughing and pointing at the people skiing down the hill. Next year, Chris wants to get one of those harnesses and take her skiing with that.

On Saturday night, we had the annual Neeley Christmas party at the Gallivan Center. Santa came and Naomi did not like him at all. The closer her got, the more upset she got. When her name was called, I had to go up with her and sit on Santa's lap. Everytime he looked at her she would freak out. Maybe it was his awful breath. Santa definitely needed a mint.

Which is worse...

Being thrown up on or your husband telling you there is somebody in the room.

First story: Monday night Naomi was acting up. She wasn't eating her veggie burger and clementine for dinner. I was so annoyed. But I let her out of her highchair to play. Then she started to be real clingy so I took her into the family room to play with her before bedtime. We were playing ball and all of a sudden she stopped and threw up. Chunks of veggie burger and clementine were spewing out of her mouth like a fountain. So, I called to my husband to clean up her throw up while I cleaned her up. I take her clothes and she is lying on my leg in her diaper staring at the Christmas tree. I'm just tickling her back for about ten minutes and decide that I'm going to lay on the couch with her laying on top of me. Why? Apparently I wasn't thinking too well. So, I get on the couch and about one minute later she let's out this disgusting burp. She looks up and throws up on me. From about chin down. By the way, I had just cleaned my couches that day. So, I roll us off the couch, she throws up some more and I take us up to the shower to clean us off while Chris is cleaning up the throw up. I'll have to say that I felt my own throw up coming up but I knew it would just make things worse if I did so I kept it down. In conclusion, she threw up a few more times and then finally went to bed. Needless to say, she is still sick but no throw up.

Second story: As some of you know, Chris is a sleep talker and walker. Some of my family members have experienced this first hand. I would tell some stories but I think it would embarrass him. Anyway, I deal with his sleep talking/walking on average once a week. Well, this particular night was disturbing. Two evenings ago, Chris started watching a show called paranormal state (I think that's what it's called). It was some freaky show about kids who see dead people and are being haunted by them. I was on the laptop so I wasn't really paying attention but I could tell it was super freaky. When I started to pay attention it was a story about a boy and his mother who were being haunted by a demon who had lived in their house forever ago. This show was giving me crappy feelings so I told Chris that he can finish watching this episode but he can never watch it again. I know, I sound like his mother but I didn't want to have any of that in my house. So, later that night as we're sleeping Chris says to me " do you see that little boy?". I said what. Chris says, "do see the little boy standing in our room?". I think Chris is just trying to scare me so I tell him he's rude. Then Chris says, "where's the baby boy that you were taking care of?" Still I'm thinking he's awake and being mean so I tell him he's not going to scare me and we go to sleep. The next morning I tell him he's a jerk for trying to scare me and he doesn't even know what I'm talking about. Creepy! Unfortunately, this kind of stuff happens frequently with him. In the beginning, it would totally freak me out. But now, I just tell him he's dreaming and to go back to sleep. People say we should have a camera in our room to see what he does or says at night.

Well, there's my week. I hope I made it entertaining for you all.

Thanksgiving this year was really fun! Regardless of who's family we go with, it's always in St. George. My family has always had Thanksgiving in S.G. and Chris's family has also for the last few years. Now his parents live there. This year we were with the Jacobsen's. It was the first Thanksgiving in their new house so it was alot of fun. Mia (our dog) loves to go there and play with all the other dogs. Plus, she's loves being around so many people and grandma Jacobsen let's her on the furniture so Mia is all about snuggling up on the comfy chairs. Naomi had a blast. She loves being around all the dogs and kids. She kept her self busy by playing in the playroom and watching people play ping pong. She loved kicking her shoes in the red sand which made me crazy! And Chris and I had a great time spending time with siblings and in laws. Pretty much the boys spent most of their time in the theatre room watching football, playing football on the play station or playing ping pong. And us gals hung out upstairs talking and when the kids went down for the night we watched movies and ate candy. My sister in laws are great! I had such a good time with them. I wish I saw them more often. I'm mad I forgot to take a picture of all of us. All of them are so cute and fun to be around.

My family has a little tradition every Thanksgiving where we get up at 4:30 in the morning and drive to Primm Nevada to shop at their outlet mall. Even if it's the Jacobsen's holiday I still go since Chris's family goes golfing for most of the day. We shop for a couple of hours and then drive back to S.G. It's really fun. I usually find really cute things for the three of us. And the Jacobsen's have started a little tradition of their own. We have a mini Olympics. Girls against girls and boys against boys. This year we competed in push ups, long jump, sprint, putting (is that how you spell it?), ping pong and pull ups. I beat the girls in push ups and ping pong and came in second for long jump but they all kicked my butt in putting and sprint. Anyway, we had a good time.

Unfortunately, I forgot to take any pictures of the weekend so I posted some of Naomi that I've taken in the last month. Enjoy!

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. We started it off by going to Gardner Village to see the witches and take pictures. Naomi was not cooperating that day so we didn't get many pics. Then I went to Thriller at Tuachan in St. George with my mother-in-law and two of my sister-in-laws. Watching it outside was really fun. I love that show. While we were in St. George, we put all the grandkids in their costumes and took pictures. Everyone looked so cute. When we got back, we went to my mom's annual Halloween dinner. Usually we go dressed up but we drove right in from St. George. She always has soup in bread bowls and lots of Halloween goodies. If any of you know my mom you know she goes crazy with decorating at holidays. Her house is covered, inside and out, with Halloween decorations. It looks really cute and the grandkids love it!

For my 30th birthday, my cute husband had a big surprise for me. My friend Wendi Bench owns Posh Frippery in Gardner Village and she carries the cutest polka dot luggage. Chris came walking in with some of this luggage as my birthday gift. I was so excited and started looking at all the bags. After a little bit, I notice something in my tote. It was a peice of paper that read, "Pack your new bags. Were going to the Turks and Caicos for one week". Obviously, I was ecstatic. But honestly, I knew he was planning a trip due to my sister-in-law who spilled the beans. It didn't matter. I have been wanting to go to the Turks and Caicos, which is in the Carribean, for a long time.

Unfortunately, two days before we lefted, Naomi came down with a bad cold. As if it wasn't hard enough to leave her for the first time ever. Now, I felt even worse . Luckily, my in laws were watching her and my mom-in-law is a nurse practioner. So, that put my mind at ease a little bit. I still felt guily that I lefted her while she was sick. By the way, she is still sick.

Well, we got there and I was an incredible vacation. It is beautiful over there. Awesome beaches and the color of the water was unbelievable. Literally, all we did was sun on the beach, read our books, and swim. Totally relaxing. Chris did golf and scuba. The place we stayed at was small and secluded. It was perfect. I've been to some nice places in my life, but for some reason this trip was beyond perfect. I told my husband that we needed to come back here in five years and stay in the same room. Making it a tradition.

Needless to say, it was paradise. The perfect birthday gift. Thank you babe. I love you.

Recipe Club

A year or so ago, my friends and I decided to start a recipe club. We would meet once a month and the host for that month would choose the theme. Well, we took a little break due to a busy summer but now we're up and running again. We started off at Marie's house and she chose a pumpkin theme. We had pasta, soup and desserts. All of it was so good. Luckily, you have to bring a recipe for everyone of what you brought. So, since we've been doing recipe club, I've collected a lot of great recipes. And, we have a lot of great cooks in our club. It's so fun to get together and do this. We have so much fun.

Happy 30th to Me!!

I'm 30 years old today! Yikes! I honestly can't believe it. I'll have to say I do feel older. Hopefully, this birthday won't be as bad as last years. I had just had a baby two months earlier so I felt FAT and TIRED. Plus, I cried alot of the day. I think half was postpartum and half was I thought I was old. Thankfully, I'm over that. And I believe my 30's are going to be great! My friends and I went to Porcupine last night for my b-day. I love my friends. I am so grateful that I get to spend time with these girls because I think they are all so great. I'm very lucky to still have a close friendship to these gals. Thanks for dinner girls! Unfortunately, we were missing Christianne, Cassie and Kara but I'll see them soon.

Last week, my friends and I with all our kids, met at Tanner Park. I cannot believe this was the first time this year we did this. Now, it's going to get too cold to do many more. But, we had a really good time. Us gals chatted while the kids played. Naomi is too little to be on playgrounds by herself so I was on the playground with her most of the time. So, I was chatting from above. Well, here are some good pics Marie took. I was bummed because my husband had the camera that day for his job. So, thanks Marie. I look forward to the winter play dates!

Wagon Ride

Naomi and I went on a wagon ride with Kelsey and Hallie this week. I think they enjoyed themselves. I'm sad it's getting colder because that means no more wagon rides. Oh well, we'll start up again next year. Naomi received her wagon for her first birthday and she loves riding in it. Maybe we'll have to take it to St. George when we visit Grandma and Grandpa Jacobsen so she can get more riding time.

Books, books and more books

So, for the last few months, all Naomi wants to do is read books. All day long I read her books. She'll get a book and come up to me and say book. Actually, the way she says it sounds like boak. If I'm busy, she'll usually go and sit on Mia's bed with her books. It's really cute. At my baby shower, Becky's advice was to buy a book every time I go to Costco. So far I have done that and Naomi's got a lot of books. That was great advice Beck.
